What's New...
Community Partners

North Edge is working in partnership with Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Economic Development Corp. (ATNI EDC) to implement the State Small Business Credit Initiative ("SSBCI Program"), a grant of $13.6M. While ATNI EDC is providing administration, oversight, reporting, and support services in compliance with the SSBCI grant program, North Edge will work with local participating tribes -- including Karuk, Blue Lake, Hoopa, Wiyot, Bear River, Trinidad, Blue Lagoon, Resighni and Tolowa Dee-Ni' -- to help them access the funding through the program in partnership with ATNI EDC.

Avivar is an impact investor that is the conduit to California Wellness. North Edge received California Wellness’s first Program Related Investment Funding. A PRI is money loaned to organizations serving a specific community need below market-rate. Those who receive the funds are able to use them to invest in individual community projects, enabling the foundation to utilize their money to further their overarching mission, as well.

The CFC is a group of EDD and EDCs in rural Northern California who banded together to create an organization that would be more appealing to funders who wanted to reach our region buy needed a larger population. This group includes AEDC, Superior EDC in Redding, 3Core in Butte County and Yuba/Sutter EDC. These organizations reach 21 rural northern California counties. The money can be parceled out to participating EDCs as needed to support lending in their communities.

CCRP will be the convener for Redwood Region RISE funding, working in collaboration with North Edge on the $5M planning grant and the $14M Catalyst Grant. They also partner with the Child Care Stabilization Fund by doing research for Child Care Champions.

CDS is a community development project management organization in Lake County. They provide guidance and technical assistance to small and mid-size businesses, as well as city, county, and nonprofit entities. They are a connector with projects in Lake County, and Mendocino.

Formerly the Northern California Community Loan Fund, Community Vision Capital is a CDFI that partnered with North Edge on the Hoopa Grocery Store and is available for larger community development projects.

In January 2021, AEDC was awarded a $1.1 million CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant from the Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA). This helps capitalize and administer a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) that will provide critical gap financing to small businesses and entrepreneurs that have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic in Del Norte County, California.

EDFC is a business development CDFI in Mendocino County that is similar to North Edge, but whose region is Lake and Mendocino Counties. A collaborative relationship has led to funding partnerships and shared expertise.

A project management corporation in Humboldt County. Greenway provides leads for community development and large business projects that need funding and works on grants with North Edge on other economic based projects such as looking into the feasibility of a meat processing facility.

The Headwaters Fund is a “well-spring” source of funding for economic development projects in Humboldt County. Their goal is to make Humboldt County a more prosperous place to live. North Edge works with the Headwaters Fund as a funding partner and on various economic development initiatives.

For many years, the Humboldt Area Foundation has been a funding partner with North Edge. In the past couple of years, that relationship has grown to become a more active partner in building capital capacity in the region. WRCF is the part of HAF that serves Del Norte County.

This is a technical assistance organization in Siskiyou that can serve the TA needs of businesses and send those ready for loans in our direction. We also co-host webinars with the Women’s Business Center.

Lake County EDC connects public and private sector interests, assists entrepreneurs with many facets of doing business from the design phase to the exit strategy, and collaborates with traditional lenders to identify financing for businesses.

North Coast Opportunities is a Community Action Agency that does a great deal of community organizing. They are a partner in the Redwood Region RISE outreach and engagement team.

This is the business technical service organization for Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. They provide workshops and advice to our clients both before and after receiving funding, allowing North Edge to focus on funding as our primary service.

Planwest Partners is a project management corporation that specializes in community, land use, environmental, and economic planning services. They can provide leads on community development projects that need funding and have previously worked with North Edge as a grant partner for economic development projects, including a community strategic plan in Southern Humboldt. They have worked with North Edge on our last two strategic plans.

RCAC’s mission is to provide training, technical and financial resources, and advocacy so that rural communities can achieve their goals. They partnered with North Edge to fund the Hoopa Grocery store and can be available for other projects.

RREDC is a Joint Powers Authority that provides business lending services in Humboldt County only. North Edge collaborates on funding projects and economic development projects.

True North Organizing Network supports families, elders, and youth of diverse faith traditions, races, cultures, and economic capacities. North Edge is working with True North to expand its capacity to include funding for community development projects. True North will also work with CCRP and NCO on the CERF planning grant.

This is the technical assistance organization in Mendocino, with locations in Ukiah and Fort Bragg.

The Economic Development arm of the Yurok Tribe, this organization is also a CDFI. Ross Welch served on their board for several years before he termed out. They continue to work with us on projects that are outside of their funding ability.
