Child Care Parent Subsidy is Now Open

A Program of the Humboldt Child Care Stabilization Fund

The Parent Subsidy program addresses the reality of high child care costs faced by Humboldt families. By providing $1,200 per child to offset the cost of child care for eligible families we hope to alleviate some of the cost burden felt by families. This bonus is paid in monthly installments directly to the family’s licensed child care provider. By paying the provider directly, this program will not count as income for the family, which may impact their eligibility for means tested programs.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Families must meet state income requirements, even if they are not currently receiving a state subsidy. You may qualify even if you haven't applied for other assistance, as income thresholds have increased.

  • Children must be 5 years or younger and enrolled in licensed care.

  • Split custody households can apply separately, with each household eligible to receive the subsidy.

How to Apply

Providers who do not already accept state subsidies from Changing Tides Family Services can still participate by enrolling to receive the stipend. The subsidy will only be paid to one provider per child, so families will need to select a primary provider when completing their application.
